Leh is Ladakh’s main town — high, dry, and sunny. People come for Buddhist monasteries (Thiksey, Hemis, Hemis festival season), Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and trips to Nubra Valley or Pangong Lake. Take it slow on day 1–2 (altitude sickness is common); Inner Line Permit rules apply for many routes.
