Sweet Falls

Sweet Falls, known locally as Kshaid Weitden, is a dramatic single-drop waterfall plunging 96 metres into a deep gorge near Happy Valley, about 13 km from Shillong city centre. Unlike Meghalaya's tiered waterfalls, it falls in a single unbroken ribbon of white water with tremendous force, making it impossible to approach at the base. Both stunning and dangerous, the falls carry an ominous local reputation and have seen numerous tragedies. Visitors access a hillside viewpoint; descending to the base is prohibited.
