About State Museum
State Museum, officially the Capt. Williamson Sangma State Museum, is Meghalaya's principal government ethnographic museum, established in 1975 and named after the state's first Chief Minister. Located within the State Central Library complex opposite All Saints Cathedral, its two galleries cover the Khasi and Jaintia communities and the Garo tribe respectively, displaying over 2,500 exhibits including handwoven textiles, silver ornaments, Wein pottery, tribal weapons, and traditional musical instruments like the Marynthing and Tangmuri.
