About Rudranath Temple
Rudranath Temple is the fourth of the five Panch Kedar shrines and is dedicated to the face (mukha) of Lord Shiva. Located at an altitude of 3,600 metres in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, it is the most remote and difficult to reach of the Panch Kedar temples. The trek to Rudranath from Sagar village passes through dense oak and rhododendron forests and the stunning Panar Bugyal meadow, taking two to three days. The temple is open only from May to October and is surrounded by several smaller shrines and natural kunds. The solitude and scenic grandeur of the trek make it one of the most spiritually intense pilgrimages in the Himalayas.
