Hanuman Garhi Temple
About Hanuman Garhi Temple
Hanuman Garhi is a well-known Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, situated at 1,951 metres on the Haldwani-Nainital Road about 3 km from the main town. The temple was established in 1950 by the revered saint Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, who is widely venerated across the Kumaon hills.
The temple complex features a large idol of Lord Hanuman and is surrounded by pine and deodar trees. It is especially known for its sunset views over the Nainital valley and the surrounding hills - among the best in the region. An ashram associated with the temple is also located nearby.
The temple is a short walk or pony ride from Nainital town. Open daily with no entry fee. Best visited late afternoon for the sunset.
