About Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts
Established in 1959 by the 14th Dalai Lama, TIPA is one of the first institutions set up by the Tibetan government-in-exile. Located in McLeodganj, it is dedicated to preserving Tibetan music, dance, and the ancient Ache Lhamo opera tradition. Visitors can attend live performances, explore the on-site museum with audiovisual archives, and experience Tibetan cultural festivals including the annual Shoton Festival.
