Vembanad Lake
About Vembanad Lake
Stretching over 200 kilometres along Kerala's coast, Vembanad is the longest lake in India and the scenic centerpiece of Kochi's backwater landscape. The lake cradles Bolgatty Island, Willingdon Island, and the houseboat routes that Kerala is famous for, while its shores are home to wetland bird species and traditional fishing communities. Watching the sun set over Vembanad from Marine Drive or a slow-moving houseboat is one of the defining experiences of a visit to Kochi.
