Jaswant Thada
About Jaswant Thada
Jaswant Thada is a white marble memorial built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The building is crafted from intricately carved sheets of white marble so thin that light filters through them, giving the structure a warm glow. Set within a walled garden with a small lake and fountains, the memorial is a peaceful contrast to the imposing Mehrangarh Fort just above it. The Mehrangarh Museum Trust maintains a gallery inside displaying portraits of Marwar rulers. The cenotaph and its surroundings serve as a concert venue during the Rajasthan International Folk Festival held each October.
