About Salim Singh ki Haveli

Salim Singh ki Haveli was built around 1815 by Salim Singh, the prime minister of Jaisalmer at the time. The haveli is instantly recognizable for its unusual top floor shaped like a peacock with a semi-circular blue roof and elaborate carved brackets. The building is seven storeys high, with the upper floors projecting outward over an arched base. The carvings on the exterior, especially the brackets and jharokhas, are among the most ornate in Jaisalmer. The haveli is still partially in private use, which adds to its authentic character compared to the more museum-like havelis nearby.
