About Yogmaya Temple

Yogmaya Temple in Mehrauli, New Delhi, is one of the oldest surviving temples in the city, dedicated to Yogmaya — the divine sister of Lord Krishna who was born to Yashodha and Nanda on the same night as Krishna and was killed by Kansa. The temple predates the Qutb Minar complex and is associated with the founding of Delhi itself. It is the focal point of the annual Phoolwalon-ki-Sair (Procession of Flower Sellers) festival, a unique Hindu-Muslim syncretic tradition that has been celebrated in Delhi since the Mughal era. The temple's antiquity, mythological significance, and role in Delhi's living cultural traditions make it a remarkable site.
