About Chepauk Palace

Constructed in 1768, Chepauk Palace is an architectural masterpiece in Chennai, recognized as the first Indo-Saracenic building in India. Originally the official residence of the Nawabs of Arcot, the palace features two majestic blocks: the Humayun Mahal and the Khalsa Mahal. Known for its intricate red brickwork, scalloped arches, and towering domes, it serves as a historic bridge between Mughal aesthetics and British colonial design, marking a significant era in the city's royal heritage.
