About Akbar Palace and Museum

Built by Emperor Akbar in 1570 as a royal residence and administrative base, this structure is one of the few surviving examples of Mughal civil architecture in Rajasthan. It later served as a treasury and arsenal under different rulers. Today it houses the Rajputana Museum, which contains a collection of Mughal and Rajput artefacts, armour, sculptures, and coins. The building itself, with its mix of Hindu and Mughal architectural elements, is as interesting as the collection inside.
